What Is The Gospel? GOD - OUR MAKER God is the creator of the world and He is loving, holy, and just. (Genesis 1:1; John 3:16; Revelation 4:8; Psalm 33:5) God created everything for His own glory but humanity, made in God’s image as the pinnacle of creation, has the unique responsibility to love, worship and obey God alone. (Psalm 19:1; Matthew 22:37-38) SIN - OUR FAILURE Even though God created the world as good, sin entered the world through the sin of Adam. (Genesis 3; Romans 5:12) All people are sinners, separated from God, because we have all broken God’s laws and gone against his commands. (Romans 3:23; Ephesians 2:1; Exodus 20; James 2:10) Because God is a holy God, our punishment apart from Christ is death. (Romans 6:23) JESUS CHRIST - OUR SAVIOR Jesus Christ is the only Son of God, fully God and fully man, who lived a perfect, sinless life. (John 1:1, 14; Hebrews 4:15) God demonstrates His love by sending His Son to take the penalty for our sins on the cross. (Romans 5:8; 1 John 4:10) Through Jesus’ life, death and resurrection, our sins can be forgiven and we can be declared righteous before God. (2 Corinthians 5:21) REPENTANCE AND FAITH - OUR ANSWER Our answer must be to turn away from our sin in repentance and turn towards Christ in faith alone. (Luke 13:3) Everyone who calls upon the Lord in faith will be saved. (Romans 10:9, 13; Acts 16:31) Salvation is a free gift from God by grace alone, through faith alone, and not by good works. (Ephesians 2:8-9) ETERNAL LIFE - OUR PLEASURE Those who repent of their sins and put their faith in Christ alone are given new life and remade as new creations. (2 Corinthians 5:17) The gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ in which we may know the one true God forever. (Romans 6:23; John 17:3) ARE YOU READY TO RESPOND TO THE GOSPEL? Know that today is the day of salvation. Decide today to trust and follow Christ. (2 Corinthians 6:2; Hebrews 4:7) Call out to God in faith, trusting in Christ alone for salvation. That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; (Romans 10:9, 13) Go to God in prayer, telling him that you are a sinner in need of forgiveness, knowing that He will forgive you of your sins. (1 John 1:9) Pray Now Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and I ask you for forgiveness. I believe you died for my sins and rose from the dead. I trust and follow you as my Lord and Savior. Guide my life and help me to do your will. In Your name I pray, amen.
